ProNet

ProNet™

Ascribing function to proteins can be a significant challenge. Fortunately, Myrexis' proteomic initiative, ProNet, provides investigators with a research platform that can quickly and accurately survey thousands of proteins for their associated protein-protein interactions. ProNet is an automated, high through-put yeast two-hybrid research process that has successfully elucidated hundreds of cellular networks associated with a wide variety of pathogens, genetic diseases and cellular processes. Now, after over a decade of proteomic research, Myrexis is making the ProNet platform and our proprietary protein interaction database available to academic, government and industrial collaborators. Let ProNet help your organization identify critical functions for your proteins of interest.

The ProNet Platform

ProNet is a highly effective and accurate, industrial-scale research platform using the yeast two-hybrid methodology for the identification and characterization of protein-protein interactions. The yeast two-hybrid approach has a number of advantages:

  • Sensitive: can detect interactions with a Kd >70 uM
  • Empirical: in vivo screen, requiring no previous knowledge of the biochemical function of the protein of interest or its interactors
  • Effective: can isolate, characterize, and ascribe function to novel and known proteins
  • Rapid and high throughput: initiate more than 100 searches per week, first results delivered within 4 months

Proprietary ProNet Technology

Technological advances make ProNet the most effective and efficient yeast two-hybrid methodology:

  • Proprietary, optimized bait and prey vectors
  • Quality-controlled activation domain libraries
  • Efficient yeast mating strategy allowing thorough screening of activation domain libraries
  • Automation and tracking of all processes ensures high quality data
  • Proprietary genetic, biochemical and informatic methodologies reduce false positives
  • ProNet Database offers over 35,000 proprietary protein interactions
  • ProNet software provides for effective and user-friendly viewing of proteomic networks

Applications

ProNet is applicable to human, microbial, veterinary, and agricultural research.
The ProNet platform is perfectly suited to the following types of projects:

  • Identification of proteins involved in host/pathogen interactions, e.g. parasites, viruses, bacteria and fungi
  • Development of an entire protein interaction network for a given organism
  • Discovery and extension of specific biochemical pathways
  • Identification of target proteins in pathways initiated from genetically identified disease genes
  • Discovery of critical interactions in disease pathways for targeted disruption
